Le Grand Bistro & Oyster Bar will be a great place to mark Julia Child’s birthday week (Helen Richardson)

From what I hear, Le Grand Bistro & Oyster Bar under new chef John Broening – who also is a Denver Post contributor – is turning out fantastic French food. So it’s a fitting joint to celebrate Julia Child’s 101st birthday, which is today. Beginning tonight and running through Sunday service, the bistro is serving ultra-traditional French dishes, the kinds of plates Julia embraced and urged upon Americans.

Vichyssoise or country pâté for a first course; roasted rabbit or bouillabaisse for the second; and gateau Paris (chocolate, almond cake, and cherries) for dessert. The feast will cost you $40.
